Indian Head Massage
As its name implies, Indian Head Massage has been developed from the traditional massage practices of India. From the barbers on the beach, mothers working with their newborn babies to families working on each other, massage plays an important part of Indian 'everyday' life.
This form, developed and adapted by Narendra Mehta in the early 80's, draws on traditional Ayurvedic* methods combined with techniques to suit the western way of life. Because of the close working relationship between the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, head, face and ears, Indian Head Massage works on these major tension carrying areas. By working in this way, the whole body benefits physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Unlike other forms of massage, Indian Head Massage is practised with the client seated in a chair, fully clothed and without the need for oils. For this reason, Indian Head Massage can be done anywhere from the beach to the office. It can bring about a sense of deep relaxation in a very short time.
*Ayurveda - a Sanskrit word meaning the 'Science' or 'Wisdom of Life', is an ancient philosophy based on a deep understanding of eternal truths about the human body, mind and spirit.
